When we met Lucy and Matt they had just begun their quirky renovation journey, converting a World War Two Nissen Hut in the Norfolk countryside, into their forever family home. They’d created moodboards and plans for their project, with light, earthy tones and natural materials throughout, and wanted us to design a kitchen that would compliment their open plan space. So we had a fantastic foundation of ideas to begin designing from.
A modern inframe shaker kitchen was the couple’s choice of style, bringing a perfect amount of character to the neutral space. And painted in Farrow and Ball ‘Shaded White’ the design enhances the open room without being overpowering.
With a ‘Carrara Smoky’ quartz worktop, solid oak drawers, and aged brass handles and tap, all the finishing elements have come together, weaving a warmth through the kitchen and living area. Lucy has styled the open shelving to the end of the island with beautiful kitchen essentials, and has chosen furniture pieces which essentiate the natural feel and add such a welcoming tone to this unique home.
It was a fantastic highlight for our team watching the journey of this project, a house coming together from literally the skeleton of a building with so much history. And for us, we throughly enjoyed the small part we had to play by making this wonderful kitchen, helping this old Nissen Hut become a family home to create many more memories in.
Here are some more of the projects we are proud to have made.
