Hannah and James’ Italian HPL and Oak Kitchen

We met Hannah and James whilst they were renovating their Victorian semi-detached home, creating a large family room to accommodate a kitchen, dining and living space. The couple asked us to design and build a contemporary kitchen, something a bit different that could be enjoyed by the whole family. They were open to ideas, providing us the perfect opportunity to get creative, which we are passionate about doing with all our work, to make each project unique to the client.

With their busy family lifestyle they wanted hardwearing materials, so decided upon oak partnered with an Italian High Pressure Laminate (HPL), a Fenix in colour Verde Comodoro, and a modern raw oak edging and recessed handles on the cabinetry. The slim half-height wall cabinetry was made in oak veneer with circular finger pull handles, all complimented by the lovely parquet flooring.

We designed the large island to encourage a flow throughout the space, and into the garden. Incorporating the sink, it was made to be as functional as possible with sliding doors for easy access to everyday necessities, as well as being aesthetically interesting with open shelving and a wine rack. A beautiful but hardy quartz worktop was added as the icing on the cake.

The family's joyful personality was translated into the furniture with a touch of coral colour, painted on the pantry door and media unit, which we created to conceal a TV and store a vinyl collection for the music loving family.

What we love most about the outcome is it really is a room for people, a room for living life in.
